COVID – 19 MEASURES
As part of Government’s measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, the following is mandatory:-
COVID-19 screening upon arrival
All travelers arriving in Malawi must have a negative COVID-19 certificate obtained within 72 Hours. The only accepted test is an electronic generated SARS-CoV 2 Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Other tests, such as Rapid Diagnostics Test (RDTs) are not accepted.
If a traveler’s COVID-19 test result has exceeded the required 72 hours, he/she will be required to undergo another test upon arrival at their own cost.
All travelers showing signs and symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to remain in designated quarantine hotels while waiting for the results of COVID-19 test, which will be availed within 24 hours.
All travelers will be briefed on COVID-19 Protocols in Malawi by Health Officials at the point of entry.
COVID-19 screening upon departure
i) All travelers departing Malawi must undergo a COVID-19 test at least 48 hours prior to departure. The Government of Malawi will bear the costs of all delegates who will be required to undertake a COVID-19 test before departure.
ii) If travelers’ test results are positive for COVID-19 (even if asymptomatic) while in Malawi, they will be quarantined at their respective hotels until they have fully recovered, at their own cost. If the COVID-19 symptoms are severe, the traveler will be sent to designated isolation centers identified by the Ministry of Health.
We therefore encourage all travelers to have international travel insurance.
Please note that:
Travelers bearing valid COVID-19 vaccination certificates will still be screened on arrival and departure and will not be exempted from the testing procedures.
Wearing of face Masks
All delegates are required to wear face masks at all times within the Summit premises and when going out in public. Delegates are advised to wear their masks properly, covering their mouth and nose.
All delegates will be required to wash hands with soap and water and/or sanitize frequently. There will be hand washing and sanitizing facilities placed around the venue.
All delegates will be required to sanitize upon entry into the meeting rooms.
Observance of Social Distancing
Delegates will be required to observe social distancing of not less than one meter apart at all times. The spacing for seats at all the conference venues will adhere to this arrangement. The meeting rooms will also be properly sanitized and disinfected.
